I know Christmas is only around the corner and some of you haven't even put your tree up yet (join the club), but design is a funny thing that needs to be planned in advance.
I've put together ten pieces which I think are a great way to welcome 2018 into your home. There is a mixture of simplicity, sustainable furnishings and my approach to trend forecasts.
I'm not a huge trend follower; I think it's important to be aware of what's going on in the World, what people are loving and what's a big no-no, but I can't say I always stick to the rules, when it comes to design. Instead, I like to take inspiration from what's popular and add some personality - buying timeless classics and items you love is far more important than following trends. Having said that, when I want to add some excitement or a pop of colour, I do like to 'turn to the trends'.
One of the colours set to be big in the New Year, is this vibrant yet rich, forest green. I love incorporating colour into my home, however I have to be honest and admit that I don't enjoy lots of it. When I do use it, I like to include splashes here and there, in statement furniture, artwork or soft furnishings. This sofa is a beautiful way of bringing some colour into your home, without it being too garish -plus the combination of the velvet, is an added luxury.
Other colours that are sure to make an appearance, are shades of blue and pink, however much more grey-toned, rather than pastel. Smoked Trout from Farrow & Ball is both delicious in colour and name.
