It's the start of a new month - which means a new Design Board to go along with it! I've scoured through all of my favourite interior brands which I know and love, and put together a 'look' which I think is perfect for the New Year. Still keeping things simple - of course - but with a little added luxury and warmth from the richer colour palette, and a statement that will wow any guest.
Towards the end of last year, Pinterest unveiled their annual report, which forecasts the global trends for the following year. From fashion to interior, and food to travel, they reveal 100 of the top trends to inspire people and give an idea of what's to come.
As mentioned previously, I'm not a huge believer of trend following, however sometimes a small splash here and there can be just what a space needs. According to Pinterest, saves for big wall art are +637%, and I think this mural (2) by Greg Mably at Wallsauce is a great statement piece - the perfect nod to the trends. Choosing something of this scale can be a little daunting at first, however if you use complimentary colours and an abstract design, it's a great alternative to framed artwork. Just make sure you keep the other room accessories simple, so not to overwhelm the space.
Another feature sure to stay around in 2018 are metallics and mixed metals. With the ability to compliment many colours, combining different finishes adds an extra element to your decor and is a simple way to add a little luxury. By including a mix of varying fabrics as soft furnishings and large, minimalistic furniture, the space won't seem cluttered or compact, from the bold colours and wall mural.
