This is a collaborative post, with the products gifted by Nordlux for the purpose of the shoot.
One of the things that can very easily be overlooked in a space is lighting - whether it's a simple bedside lamp or a statement pendant feature, very often the purpose seems more important than the design or mood it creates. The choice of light can distinguish the function of the space; separate a sense of calm and relaxation, from a bright and stimulating one. There are so many options and styles available, that it has become very easy for lighting to fit seamlessly into the design of a room.
Today, I wanted to introduce you to Nordlux, in case you were on the hunt for a new way of brightening your home. Since establishing in Denmark in 1977, their objective has been to offer quality products at low cost, enabling them to provide a wide range of both indoor and outdoor lighting solutions, which follow new trends and technological developments.
Nordlux is split into two brands - 'Nordlux' and 'Design for the People'.
'Nordlux' products are characterised by quality for money, with a strong focus on Scandinavian design and the latest trends. This range is more changeable and adjusts to new impulses, whilst still remaining true to its identity.
'Design for the People' still delivers a Scandinavian approach, however behind every light there are a number of recognised Danish designers, each who endeavour to create lamps that embellish and seduce. 'Beauty and functionality goes hand in hand.'
As one of Scandinavia's leading suppliers of lighting, they believe it to be essential to take care of the people and the environment, throughout all stages of design and production. From relationships with suppliers and management of employees and co-workers, to their awareness of energy saving products and fuel economy in company cars. Every aspect is carefully considered, to ensure their enthusiasm and respect for what they produce remains at the forefront.
Here, I've put together three examples to show you how their lights can fit into your everyday life and hopefully give you some ideas for where you can use them.
Room One - MIB 6 Table Lamp
With an emphasis on simplicity, the MIB 6 table lamp in black was love at first sight. Based on classical virtues of design and created by Bønnelycke MDD, the MIB 6 spreads light and joy in any modern home. The narrow structure adds an element of elegance, whilst the contrasting and adjustable head emits a precise and narrow directional light.
' MIB 6 invites you to put a spotlight on life.'
I think it's essential for your bedroom to be a place of relaxation, with a cosy and warm atmosphere. There's a variety of textures already within the space, so the striking matte black was the perfect addition. The adjustable head makes it so versatile; tilted to direct the light onto the bed for reading, or facing straight down to encompass the room.
Room Two - SIV Table Lamp
The second option is more of a statement and sculptural piece, from their affordable Nordlux collection. The SIV table lamp (shown here in black) is available in three marbles - black, white and dark green, and showcases the stunning contrast between the raw, stylish base and the warm glow of the bulb. It's a really adaptable design, which can easily change shape and style by simply swapping the bulb. Shown here with the AVRA LED filament bulb, this offers a soft light, without being too overpowering due to the lack of shade.
The SIV is the perfect option if you're limited on space; with its small base, it requires minimal room and provides endless options for both design and style, as the room evolves. I think this is a great alternative to a floor lamp, in a reading corner or alcove, and would also work really well with the cut crystal effect AVRA bulbs for a more luxurious feel.
Room Three - MIB 6 Floor Lamp
'You may recognise this design (I did tell you it was love at first sight), however this time it's the MIB 6 floor lamp version. With its stripped back design and understated expression, the clean lines create structure within a cosy living space. Available in white, as well as black and at just 141cm tall, it's a relatively low floor lamp - a great option to choose when emphasising the height of a room and making a feature from the space surrounding it.
