I do love a good home tour - it's the perfect mid-week pick me up. Perhaps a little bit nosey, but I like to think of it as design inspiration? This sensational apartment situated just outside of Stockholm, oozes style, tranquility and most of all, lots and lots of light.
You can't help but feel a sense of calm and at ease when admiring this apartment. The colour scheme is simple, with warmth added through tones of khaki and rich tan, and the contrast between high ceilings and low furniture, emphasises the amount of space. Ceilings as high as these (5m to be exact) allow you to be playful with your choice of lighting; a combination of pendant lights work really well here and help to distinguish the zones within the open plan.
I love the combination of a smaller coffee table and a footstool or ottoman. This is a little like I'm hoping to achieve with our living room. It's a great way of adding extra seating to a space, without overwhelming it with large furniture, which can be overpowering. It's also a perfect surface for displaying even more wonderful coffee table books - added bonus!
The neutral colour scheme is continued through into the bathroom and kitchen; tonal serve ware compliment the cabinets, whilst pops of greenery keep the space feeling fresh. For me, this is the perfect shade of wood for kitchen cabinets - still keeping things neutral and light, but adding a natural touch.
The bedroom maintains the beautiful calmness, with grey walls and sage green fitted storage. I've seen these rich and earthy tones making more of an appearance recently in soft furnishings and accessories, and I can't help but jump on the bandwagon - you only need to look at my April design board, to see what I mean! I think it's a great shade to add personality to a space and lift a relatively minimalistic design - also easy to swap and change through the seasons.
There's definitely a lot which I'm lusting over, but what do you think? Do you like the flashes of colour, or are you more of a monochromatic person?
